East Asia has many different countries, therefore, it has many different languages. The most spoken languages in EA are Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, as shown by the large areas on the language map. The languages developed from the Sino-Tibetan language family, excluding Mongolian and Korean, which developed from the Altaic family. These groups were formed thousands of years ago as humans came to this region of Asia with their own scripts and language functions. After all those years, the five main languages - Mongolian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Thai - formed into their modern counterparts.
